New Queers on the Block is a fresh night of innovative performance touring the UK during September and October 2018. The night showcases international queer work from Rachael Young, Hester Chillingworth, Stacy Makishi & Malik Nashad Sharpe hosted by Ophelia Bitz. In each town or city, performers will be joined by a specially commissioned local LGBTQ+ artist.
Venues and festivals in Hastings, Blackpool, Folkestone and Bradford will receive and champion radical queer-led work. Led by The Marlborough Theatre in Brighton, this new touring scheme will see artists engaging with local audiences for the first time, through a Local Ambassadors Programme created to reach out to non-theatre attending audiences.
Expect shows about being a queer black woman channelling the power of Grace Jones, memories of a queer childhood, small but perfectly (per)formed piece with teeth, and black melancholy through the legacy of Tupac.

This workshop galvanizes participants to:

Create faster than critique
Resist resistance
Pulverize procrastination.
Killing Time is a free workshop for artists of colour who are curious about live art and performance. One must have a willingness to try out new ideas and an adventurous spirit to walk out into the unknown.

The Comforter follows the powerfully moving and absurdly humorous Vesper Time (“a gorgeous hymn…for fearlessness, truth and love” Exeunt) that toured the UK. Together they make up the first two in a three-show series about the Holy Trinity. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost of the trio and it asks the question: ‘What am I unwilling to feel?’
